About Me

I live a 'different ordinary' life in Durban South Africa. I don't have the usual 9-5 job because I don't have the make-up of an 'order taking' employee working for someone else at set times. Life also took a path that required a little more flexibility in my time. While completing my masters degree in economics I started an NPO Micah6, that facilitates educational opportunities for vulnerable girls from our local informal settlement (www.micahsix.blogspot.com). The need to engage weekly with the girls was not going to fit with a 9-5 work schedule. So I created my own consulting opportunities whether in economics or through the State of Engagement (www.stateofengagement.co.za)

My wonderful husband has been supportive of my volunteer efforts through the years, and I am immensely grateful for this. He was also supportive of my new pursuit: a PhD in Education Economics through Stellenbosch University. The motivation for this was fueled by immense frustration with South Africa's public education system and the gross inequality in the provision of access to quality schooling. Just one inadequate school scenario was enough to spark this to flame... that is a story for another day and another blog.

I just hope that each day, what I do and think is in service to God and His kingdom that makes Him look supremely valuable in Himself. This is also the motivation for this blog which incentives my need to engage with the revelation of His Word.
